Impressed by your publishing skills, something I doubt I could ever manage.
Personally I’m very interested in your image of “HM-L”, the 136 Sqn Spitfire, where did you discover the “gen” about the spinner ?
Nigel, I did all those profiles nearly a decade ago and I’m afraid that I’m a little hazy on the references. But if I believe correctly, I read it in a book, the name of which escapes me. It also specified that some aircraft had red spinners and earth brown spinners. The only matter of contention is that I don’t know which exact shade of green was used.
If I come across more specific information I’ll let you know. No worries.
Amazing work; I have just discovered the site by chance, and spent quite some time admiring it´s content. I really like the writing and the visual style is amazing. Keep it up!
Thank you kindly. I’ll try.
Glad to hear that you found the content on the site useful, and (I hope) informative.
I stumbled on this by accident – saw a title on scribd and finally here I am. Really impressed with the aircraft profiles and maps/cartography – Have you considered doing art with an Indian theme – eg.. Hurricanes of Indian Air Force, or maps about battles in India? Would love to see that. There are many (Indian) authors and writers out there who can benefit from your artwork
It’s an interesting idea. But I’m not really sure where to start. The subject is vast and mapping/aviation projects require a high degree of research. The problem is compounded by a measure of propaganda/misinformation in post-independence accounts (imho). However, if an interesting project comes along that is pertinent to Indian history, I’d be up for it. Oh, and I recently did a two-part infographic set on the modern Indian Air Force that was published in my newspaper. You might find somewhat interesting.
I’m not much of a tweeter, but here’s the link:
There is a small circle of Indian writers who do work on various aviation history projects. For one project of mine, I had to commission an artist from New Zealand, Juanita Franizi to do aircraft profiles. as I could not find any one coming close in India . Ditto with maps. I wish i had known about you earlier!
Thanks for the tweet link. will check it up – I tweet as well as @vayusena .. You should check out our recently concluded twitter thread with hashtag #iafpics365 https://twitter.com/search?q=%23iafpics365&src=typed_query&f=live
I didn’t know Ms Franzi’s work before you brought her up. I checked her art out. Pretty good.
You should send me an email, (to akhil213@yahoo.com) so that I have a way to get in touch with you. On an aside, your Bharat Rakshak website is a treasure.
